Connecticut Students Gain Access to a Positive Online Community for Career and Life Planning

Guilford, CT—Upptik proudly announces the launch of its innovative career exploration and mentoring platform in Connecticut. Designed for students and young workers, Upptik transforms social media into a productive and supportive space where users can connect, find mentors and content to help one another navigate career choices, life management, and decision-making.

The rise of social media has created unprecedented challenges for today’s youth. According to The Times, where social psychologist Jonathan Haidt and other experts have raised concerns about the negative impact of social media on young people’s mental health and development. Since 2012, studies have shown a sharp increase in adolescent depression, anxiety, and loneliness, with social media usage cited as a major contributor. Young users are frequently exposed to harmful content, including cyberbullying, body shaming, and self-harm-related material.

Upptik’s founder and CEO, Guilford-based Jennifer D’Amato, along with her team, is tackling this issue head-on by creating an online community designed by young people for young people. Upptik turns social media into a force for good, fostering self-esteem and providing a safe, healthy space for students to plan their futures with confidence and support.

“Upptik is like a ‘Junior LinkedIn’ meets a ‘healthy TikTok,’” says D’Amato. “High school and college students, along with young professionals, can interact, share guidance, and access valuable resources for life, college, and career planning. Local colleges and employers will also have a presence on the platform, allowing students to explore opportunities and connect with potential mentors and job prospects. Skills training and multimedia resumé-building are also key components of Upptik.”

A Solution to the Overwhelming Career Planning Process

“Career planning can be overwhelming for many teens,”  D’Amato continues. “Too often, the process starts too late and lacks sufficient support, leaving young people feeling lost, rushed, and unprepared. The result? Costly mistakes, such as investing in the wrong school or career path, at a time when education costs are rising. This can lead to frustration and uncertainty about their future. Upptik changes this narrative by offering a positive, community-driven platform focused on collaboration, success, and empowerment.”

Upptik’s online community is accessible via a web-based app, with Android and iOS versions coming soon. Thanks to Upptik Gives, the platform’s nonprofit arm, students receive FREE memberships when they sign up at www.Upptik.com. Once enrolled, they gain access to invaluable resources, including mentoring, career exploration tools, skill-building modules, resumé development, and multimedia career guidance. Additionally, Upptik’s goal is to highlight statewide colleges, companies, and job opportunities to ensure students are fully informed about their options.

High school students can also participate in Upptik Gives’ community service program, while college students and young professionals can benefit from the platform’s intern credit program.
